The 2017 Town Hall Meeting was held on July 24th at the Cookie Factory Lofts in Richmond Virginia. The Board welcomed representatives from College and High School Coaching, Youth and High School Administration, Current and Former Players and members of the Officials Groups.
The Board thanks all that attended and were pleased with the ideas and candor that was brought throughout the evening. We look forward to taking this information, discussing and bringing forth programs that will deliver upon our mission to push forward the continued growth of the sport in Central Virginia.
Highlights from the evening include:
- Highland Springs Coaches, Players and Supporters attended and expressed their deep gratitude to US Lacrosse for the assistance in launching their program. In 2016, Highland Springs was awarded the First Stick Program Grant by US Lacrosse which provided equipment and training for their team as they introduced Lacrosse to their school. Additionally, many coaches, players and supporters in the community came out and volunteered their time to provide skills training to players as they launched. Welcome Highland Springs to the Lacrosse Family.
- Head Women's Lacrosse Coach, MK Geratowski, from Randolph Macon joined the Town Hall and shared the news that Randolph Macon will host the 2018/2019 Division III National Championship weekend. The College will be promoting events tied to the Championship as the weekend approaches and will be reaching out to the community to join them as Host Families and, of course, to come and cheer on the athletes during the Championship weekend.
- US Lacrosse Regional Representative, Mark Eissele, joined the meeting and shared details of the relaunch of many educational and skill training resources which will be available to US Lacrosse Members. Stay abreast of these rollouts here and on the US Lacrosse website.
